“Heart of a Captain: The Doug Gilmour Story“

Doug Gilmour is a Canadian hockey legend. He played 20 seasons in the NHL for seven different teams. He recorded 1,414 points in 1,474 games in the NHL between 1983 and 2003. He was a member of Calgary’s 1989 Stanley Cup championship team and won the Frank J. Selke award as the league’s best defensive forward in 1992–1993 as a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Leafs fans fondly recall the incredible playoff runs the Leafs went on in 1993 and 1994, led by Gilmour, making it to the Stanley Cup semi finals both years. Internationally, he represented Canada three times during his career and was a member of Canada’s 1987 Canada Cup championship team.

He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, and his uniform number 93 is retired by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Doug is a proud supporter of a range of charities. Doug’s parents always taught him to give back, and over the year different charities are chosen to receive funds through a variety of fundraisers Doug attends.
