The brewery is located in the old Midtown Meat Company from which the name was taken as an honour to the historic roots of the building. Quickly, the brewery is becoming an integral part of the community with a local farmer’s market in the parking lot in the summer and a community skating rink taking its place in the winter months. The local market suppliers continue to have their products sold in the brewery year round. Combine this with local fundraisers, book launches and local chef Wednesdays and it is easy to see why the brewery is succeeding in its vision to become the community centre and local gathering place for Wellington.
The brewery has been recognized as a Top 10 Brewery Destination by the CBC and also as a beer destination by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. Midtown focuses on traditional brewing styles from the U.K., Belgium and Germany. Their core brands are an ESB, a dry Irish stout and a Kolsch style beer. They have also brewed bitters, IPA’s, Saison’s, Hefeweizen’s, fruit beers, Flanders Red, Biere de Gard and Berliner Weisse.
