Message from
the Board Chair + Association President
In fall 2017, the Ontario Craft Brewers’ (OCB) Board of Directors embarked on a strategic planning process. We are a dedicated Board that has accepted the responsibility of the governance and stewardship of the OCB. Breweries have been an integral part of their local communities’ sustainable growth throughout history, and we believe that by working together, we will have an even bigger impact going forward. We are proud to be a part of an association that encourages collaboration and speaks with one voice on behalf of its members and the industry.
From the outset, our board believed it was essential for us to gather input directly from stakeholders. It was especially important that our strategic plan re ected the future needs of all those across our industry. So, we engaged members and non-members, government, other partners, consultants, educators and industry media. We asked the pertinent questions: How are we doing? What do we do well? What could we improve upon? Do the members, non-members, and our partners need to know more about us and what we do?
The goal was to develop a ten-year strategic vision based upon serious engagement. Throughout the planning process, we undertook extensive discussions, and the stakeholders o ered great interest and feedback that added valuable insight to our future direction. We then assessed our own association’s capacities and opportunities and, together, mapped out six strategic directions to pursue.
We are proud of the outcome and excited about our future — one that will see strong membership engagement, sustainable business growth, market share increases, and alignment across the craft beer industry. We thank everyone that took the time to participate, share ideas, and give suggestions.
Sincerely,
Je Dornan Scott Simmons
Board Chair Association President
